Interactions between Different Organosilicons and Archaeological Waterlogged Wood Evaluated by Infrared Spectroscopy

چکیده

The goal of the study was to characterise chemical interactions between waterlogged archaeological wood and organosilicon compounds applied for its conservation shed lights on mechanism dimensional stabilisation by chemicals. Two alkoxysilanes (methyltrimethoxysilane (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane) a siloxane (1,3-bis(diethylamino)-3-propoxypropanol)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane) were selected research since they already have been proven effectively stabilise upon drying. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy used structural characterisation degraded evaluation reactivity chemicals with polymers in wooden cell wall. results obtained clearly show much stronger case than siloxane, suggesting different these compounds. this together other data our previous allow conclusion that is based bulking wall silane molecules modification, while it builds filling lumina.

Characterisation of archaeological waterlogged wood by pyrolytic and mass spectrometric techniques.

Two techniques based on analytical pyrolysis and mass spectrometry, direct exposure-MS (DE-MS) and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS), were used to characterise waterlogged archaeological wood and to study degradation patterns of wood in aqueous environments. The two techniques were applied to samples from the excavation of the Site of the Ancient Ships of Pisa San Rossor...

An Evaluation of Supercritical Drying and PEG/Freeze-drying of Waterlogged Archaeological Wood

Supercritical carbon dioxide has replaced many liquid organic solvents in industry due to its tunable solvent properties, environmental friendliness, and easily achievable critical parameters. The unique properties of supercritical fluids in general, such as gas-like diffusivity and zero surface tension, make them particularly applicable to the field of conservation. This presentation reports o...

In situ polymerisation of isoeugenol as a green consolidation method for waterlogged archaeological wood

Waterlogged archaeological wood is often in need of consolidation prior to drying to prevent shrinkage and cracking of the object. There is a need for new greener materials (than for example polyethylene glycol) and methods for consolidation to be developed. The use of wood-based components could provide good interaction between the consolidant and the remaining wood structure and would also su...

Preliminary Investigation into the Identification of Wood Species from Different Locations by Near Infrared Spectroscopy

The feasibility of using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) to identify wood species was investigated in this study. Case I considers the principal component analysis scores plot of NIR spectra for three wood species. Case II considers whether NIR combined with partial least squares discriminant analyses can be used to identify the three wood species. Three wood species were studied, and each spe...

application of atr infrared spectroscopy in wood acetylation

acetylation is a chemical modification of wood to enhance its properties. ir-spectroscopy is a useful technique for proofing chemical bondings in wood and the at-tenuated total reflection (atr) infrared spectroscopy technique was applied as an eas-ier technique over other ir-spectroscopies. in this research, different degrees of acetyla-tion, weight percentage gains (wpgs) in beech and pine min...
